Happy Halloween!!!

We had a great Halloween! We got lucky and the rain held off while we were trick-or-treating until the last 2 houses. This is the first year we have been home to go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood and it was crazy! There were so many kids, it reminded me of growing up in Mt. Creek and you would come home with so much candy! You could definitely tell kids were dropped off in our neighborhood by the car loads but at least everyone had fun. I bought over 500 pieces of candy this year and it is all gone! Yes, some kids don't understand when the sign says to take a couple of pieces.... But at least I don't have the candy in my house anymore (well except for Ansley's loot!). If we have candy then I will eat it :)

Ansley had a great time and knew exactly what to say at each door, "Trick-or-treat", "Happy Halloween", and then "Thank You"! Her bucket was so full by the end she needed help carrying it :)

Pumpkin Carving

Tonight we carved our pumpkin. Rob did most of the work, I hate to scoop out all of the insides of a pumpkin, YUCK! Ansley helped by scooping some of it out with a large spoon but that is as close as she got to touching the insides.... We decided to carve the pumpkin into something that would go with Ansley's theme to her costume this year.

please excuse the way I look, I have been sick for 2 days with a head-cold

we were pretty pleased with the way it came out :)

Artist at Work

Yesterday, Ansley went to another pumpkin patch with her preschool class, she came home with a tiny pumpkin to add to the others we already have. I decided this would be a good one to let her paint. So we pulled out the paints, put on an old t-shirt, and I let her go at it! I think it looks beautiful, I LOVE how she is not scared of color and likes to mix them together.

I think I may make this a weekly thing for us. Plus, my mom gave Ansley a picnic table as an early Christmas gift and it is perfect to let her sit at and paint :)

Annual Trip to Patterson Farms

Despite the very cold weather today (low 50's and wind), we headed to Patterson Farms to pick our pumpkins. This event has become a fun one for us because it is a big outing for the families of my mom's group at church! They have hayrides, a corn maze, a petting zoo, a big corn pit, a pirate ship, and so many more activities for the kids. At the end of it all, we had a pot-luck dinner for the families. It became pretty comical because we all ate really fast due to the cold weather :) ... All in all, we had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to next year's pumpkin patch.

Disney on Ice

Last Thursday, Mimi and Pops came into town for a long weekend :) It was great having them here, especially since Rob was out of town for work until Friday. On Friday night we took Ansley to see Disney on Ice. She absolutely loved it!!! There was one part in the show that scared her, but she got over it pretty fast. Thank you Mimi and Pops for treating us to Disney on Ice, we had a great time :)
Before the showthe dancing broomsAnsley's new favorite toy...we will be happy when the batteries die! intermission

Mimi and Pops also watched Ansley for us while we escaped to Asheville for a night with Jenna, Richard, Laura & Dave. We had a great time getting away from our kids. We went to the Biltmore House, lounged around and watched football and then went out to a great dinner Saturday night! It was a much needed night away.

Thanks again Mimi and Pops for coming and entertaining Ansley!
