Halloween Festivities

The end of October was very busy for us. I am going to apologize for this being a long post with lots and lots of pictures!

We went to our Church pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins. In the past we have always gone to a big Pumpkin Patch farm but decided it would be easier to go to our church's patch. I thought the pumpkins were better there too :) It was a beautiful day and we picked out the perfect pumpkins.

goofing off before heading out to the pumpkin patch
can you tell Aly has had enough of her sister...

 Aly LOVED the hay!

Once we got our pumpkins, it was time to carve them. Ansley has never liked this part. She likes the concept but not the gooey mess of pulling out the insides of the pumpkin. We were not very creative this year and just did a simple jack-o-lantern.

ready to get started now that all the guts are out...

Here is Ansley before she left to go to a birthday party at a pumpkin patch. I thought she looked so cute in the shirt Chantal made her. Aly is wearing hers in the above pics :)

Ansley also got to go back to our church pumpkin patch with her preschool class. It was kind of crazy and started to rain which made it very interesting. Ansley really didn't want anything to do with taking pictures this day (she was definitely in a mood!).

Ansley finally smiled after pouting most of the morning

Halloween day was a crazy day, Aly was teething really bad and I was over Halloween before it really started! Our theme this year was princesses :) Aly was a fairy princess, while Ansley was Sleeping Beauty. Ansley was beyond excited about getting to dress up in her princess outfit. Aly ended up spitting up all over her costume within minutes of having it on.... but they still looked cute and I was actually able to get a couple of pics before Ansley & Rob headed out to go trick-or-treating. Rob said Ansley absolutely loved the concept of trick-or-treating this year. I was sad to have missed it but really was fine staying home in a nice warm house :)

I bought so much candy this year and it was all gone within an hour and a half. Our neighborhood was absolutely insane this year, there were so many kids being dropped off by the carloads. Next year we will all be able to go trick-or-treating which will be a lot of fun!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

Sleeping Beauty
The whole outfit! ... I did not let Ansley trick-or-treat in these shoes (just for pics)

October 15th

On October 15th, Uncle Boo (Matt) turned 30!!! We went back to Atlanta so we could celebrate the big day :) My parents were gracious enough to watch the girls while we went out and had a good time with Matt, Chelsea and thier friends.

We decided not to go to the homecoming game the next day, and just stayed in Atlanta and watched the game over at CC & Uncle Boo's house. Ansley had an absolute blast playing with her Uncle Boo. I got some great pictures of Ansley playing with Uncle Boo's guitars. He was very nice to let Ansley play around with them. She was just in heaven!

Matt, we hope you had a wonderful 30th Birthday and we were so glad to be able to make it to the party!

one of my new favorites of Aly
I finally got to meet sweet Mary King Edwards :)
Ansley strumming the guitar
she looks like she is playing the base...
Uncle Boo & Ansley having their own jam session
such a special bond...

Look who is sitting ....

Right after Aly's 6 month check-up she started to sit up on her own. She was so much happier once she could sit up and watch everything around her. It was much better for us too :)
And just to document Aly's 6 month stats from her dr appt:

Weight: 16lbs 15oz. (60th percentile, dropped from the 90th at her 4 mth check up)
Height: 26 1/2 inches (68th percentile, dropped from the 90th)

And to compare Aly's stats to Ansley's at the same age:

Weight: 17lbs 2 oz. (75th percentile)
Height: 26 3/4 inches (90th percentile)

* it is funny to see how Aly was so much bigger then Ansley for 4 months and then at her 6 month checkup, she is now smaller then Ansley was!

Here are some pics of Aly sitting pretty!!!!

Our little monkey!

Touch-A-Truck

Back in early October, we decided to get out and enjoy the nice, cool, fall weather we were having by going to Touch-a-Truck. Touch-a-Truck is a big funraiser for Addi's cure, raising money for lung cancer research in honor of Bo Johnson who lost his fight with lung cancer and never smoked a day in his life. Bo, was very well known in the Lake Norman area and they have been having this fundraiser for a couple of years now. Bo lost his fight with lung cancer this past December. His daughter's name is Addi and is around Ansley's age.

Touch-a-Truck is a little kids dream, especially for boys! Every kind of truck imaginable was there. The kids can climb inside of them, honk the horns, pretend to steer, etc. Ansley's favorite was definitely the police car and the firetruck where she was able to turn the siren on and ring the bell. We were glad we were able to attend this year and will definitely go again next year. It is sad to think that a young father lost his life to a type of cancer that usually takes the life of advid smokers. Here is the link to Addi's cure if you are interested in checking it out.... http://www.lkntouchatruck.com/content/AddisCure/tabid/438/Default.aspx
